Case Overview: In the demonstration area of 5G self-driving vehicles and vehicle-road synergy in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the project builds a new-generation intelligent transportation system based on operation vehicles (buses and taxis), self-driving and smart travel guidance, and 5G network collaboration between people, vehicles, roads, stations, and clouds.

Case Description:

In the demonstration area of 5G self-driving vehicles and vehicle-road synergy in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the project builds a new-generation intelligent transportation system based on operation vehicles (buses and taxis), self-driving and smart travel guidance, and 5G network collaboration between people, vehicles, roads, stations, and clouds. The project covers the entire process of automated driving bus and taxi business operation, explores the new ecosystem of travel services in automated driving mode, and promotes Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to become the first demonstration area of automated driving bus and taxi business operation in China.

Currently, the 5G-based full management operations platform (remote driving/control/monitoring) is implemented. In the initial phase, security personnel are deployed to gradually implement unmanned driving and reduce the proportion of automatic vehicle decision-making. Complex decisions need to be taken over by the remote security platform. Based on the MEC deployment of 5GDN, high-bandwidth and low-latency high-reliability in-vehicle HD video real-time backhaul is provided. One security officer can monitor the driving of three to five vehicles through video backhaul, remote instruction delivery or remote driving vehicle security processing.
