On
August 17, the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid won
the license of the 5G Smart Demo Project on the "Lighting up Shenzhen, 5G
Smart City" press conference. Wu Xiaochen, Chairman of Shenzhen Power
Supply Bureau, attended the press conference, and Xie Hong, Deputy General
Manager, delivered a keynote speech as an industry representative.
On
the same day, it was announced that 45,000 5G base stations in Shenzhen had
been constructed ahead of schedule to achieve full coverage of 5G independent
networking. It is learned that up to now, more than 46,000 5G base stations
have been built in Shenzhen, ranking No. 1 in China.
Since
5G was put into commercial use in 2019, Shenzhen has continuously innovated
e-Government applications and showcased its applications in 10 fields,
including energy, healthcare, and education. Pengcheng substation smart grid,
Nanshan Window of the World smart policing demonstration site, and other
applications are widely praised.
The
500-kV Pengcheng substation is a new-generation 5G smart substation of Shenzhen
Power Supply Bureau. It is also a demonstration site of the Bureau's
"large-scale application of 5G new technologies for smart grids"
project. By using 1036 smart devices such as 5G inspection robots and 5G
cameras, the working mode of device inspection, device operation, and security
monitoring is changed, which greatly frees the labor force and improves the
working efficiency.

During
the keynote speech delivered by the industry representative, Xie Hong said that
Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau has been actively engaged in and serving the
development of the 5G industry. It has made great effort to ensure the power
consumption of 5G base stations by setting up a dedicated 5G power supply
service work team, streamlining installation documents and processes, and
establishing a green channel for telegraph installation. To reduce the power
consumption cost of 5G base stations, Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau is fully
committed to transforming 5G base stations into direct power supply, enabling
eligible 5G base stations to directly trade with the power supply bureau,
saving about CNY100 million in power consumption costs for 5G operators each
year.
Xie
Hong also highlighted Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau's joint efforts to promote
world-class smart grid construction in Shenzhen from the perspective of
"5G + full-stack localization + smart grid". He said that to support
the in-depth integration of 5G and power grid services, Shenzhen Power Supply
Bureau took the lead in building a 5G electric power virtual private network by
using slices, using equipment such as 5G CPE, 5G camera, 5G robot, and 5G smart
gateway, based on a full-stack localized data center, building a smart grid
application scenario that covers power transmission, transformation, and
distribution, building secure and efficient power transmission, intelligently
interconnected power transformation, and flexible and reliable power
distribution, fully leveraging the advantages of various sites, such as
substations, power distribution rooms, power towers, and cable conduits. It helps
Shenzhen build 5G networks more quickly, better, and more cost-effectively,
improving the smart level of urban power grids.
