[Chongqing,
China, September 27, 2020] Recently, the third Bloom Cup 5G Application Contest
was successfully concluded in Chongqing. A total of 4,289 projects were
received. The vendor and carriers helped industry partners win multiple awards in
the final, covering smart factory, smart grid, smart campus, smart healthcare
and etc.
The
"5G underground mine private network project" jointly declared by
China Mobile Shanxi Branch, Yangquan Coal
Industry Group, Huawei, China Coal Industry Association, China Mobile
(Shanghai) Research Institute, and China Coal Technology Group won the first
prize in the contest. This project is the first 5G coal mine in China. 21
underground base stations, 9 ground base stations, and MEC platforms are
deployed to ensure data security. The super gigabit uplink 5G function resolves
the key pain points of communication difficulties for underground equipment
personnel, intelligent applications such as 5G intelligent inspection robot and
5G roadheader control are deployed, effectively improving mine operation
efficiency and security. It is estimated that millions of yuan will be
generated each year.
The
project of "Security Autonomous and Controllable Facilitating 5G Smart
Grid Application Promotion", jointly declared by China Mobile, China
Southern Power Grid, Huawei, China Mobile Guangdong Branch, China Southern
Power Grid Digital Grid Research Institute, China Academy of Information and
Communications Technology (CAICT), Guangdong Telecom Planning and Design
Institute, and China Mobile Communications Research Institute, won the first
prize in the contest. Based on the security requirements of electric power
applications, the project provides an innovative distributed architecture to
carry multiple electric power services, builds a three-dimensional network
security protection system for smart grids, and provides 24/7 digital power
grid security situational awareness, ensuring digital transformation of the
electric power industry.
In addition, the vendor, carriers, and industry partners jointly received
second prizes for "5G+MEC Smart Healthcare Project for the Medical
Consortium in Futian District, Shenzhen", "Practicing the 5G LAN
Virtual Private Network, Building the Colour TV Manufacturing Collaboration
Demonstration Industrial Park Project", "Haier 5G Virtual Private
Network-based Demonstration Campus Solution", "South-South Aluminum
5G Smart Factory", and third awards for "5G Enables Smart Grid and
Builds a Pilot Demonstration Area for 5G Industry Private Networks", "Liugang
5G+Smart Factory 100 Million-level Benchmark Application Implementation
Project", also excellent awards for "5G slicing private network for
digital transformation of county medical communities", "China
Resources cement 5G+10 million-level industrial Internet commercial
projects" and etc.
The 5G network features high bandwidth, low latency, and easy deployment. It combines edge computing, network slicing, and 5G LAN technologies to build 5G deterministic networks with differentiated and deterministic capabilities, meeting diversified network requirements of different vertical industries, opens up new space and opportunities for industry digitalization.
The "Bloom Cup"
5G Application Contest is hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information
Technology (MIIT) and jointly hosted by China Academy of Information and
Communications Technology (CAICT), 5G Application Industry Matrix, IMT-2020
(5G) Promotion Group, and China Communications Standardization Association. The
Contest aims to further promote the commercial implementation of 5G applications,
helps the ICT industry develop with high quality.
In the future, with the joint efforts of operators, equipment vendors, and industry partners, 5G will be more innovative and more 5G industry applications will be blooming in the digital economy era.
